Description:

Per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a group of over 21,000 manmade chemicals that can be recalcitrant and highly mobile in the environment. PFAS are present in almost 9,000 private drinking water wells in the Coastal Plain near a North Carolina PFAS plant (Chemours). Leveraging publicly available PFAS data, this study considers deeper aquifers as an alternate drinking water source and estimates how long PFAS will remain in drinking water. This presentation will take a holistic look at PFAS contamination in the southern Coastal Plain of North Carolina and discuss the environmental impacts, including human health risks associated with PFAS in drinking water.

Bring a Friend Along to the NCWRA Luncheon! (with the purchase of a regular member luncheon forum admission fee)
Is there a young professional who has recently arrived on the scene at your company or co-worker that is new to North Carolina? Are you looking for quality, affordable, PDHs?  Is there someone at your workplace interested in meeting others in the water resources field, learning about what’s happening in water resources research, policy and implementation?  If so, then we encourage current NCWRA members to bring a friend to the next NCWRA luncheon. We are looking for “fresh faces” to benefit from the valuable, yet affordable, professional development and networking opportunities that our state chapter of the American Water Resources Association (AWRA) has to offer.
